Saverys blamed what he described as “a lack of cooperation at the right terms” from shipyards DSME and Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) on conversions and delivery flexibility of four LNG carrier newbuildings controlled by Fredriksen’s interests.
The tanker king has been pushing financially troubled DSME to convert two 173,400-cbm LNG carriers due for delivery in 2017 into floating storage and regasification units (FSRUs) and is understood to have just days remaining to reach an agreement on the already under construction vessels.
