US swipes at Iranian exports appear to have boosted VLCC utilisation, just as more oil is expected to start flowing.
According to Jefferies analyst Omar Nokta, the utilisation rate for the largest crude oil tankers has reached 90%, up from 83% six months ago, “primarily as a result of [US] sanctions which have removed 54 VLCCs from the compliant trading fleet”.
