A Papachristidis-owned suezmax came under machine gun and rocket-propelled grenade fire off India on Thursday but managed to avoid hijacking.



The incident is the latest in a long list of assaults on suezmaxes which raises the prospects of pirates deliberately targeting high-priced and laden tonnage exiting the Persian Gulf.



The 148,000-dwt Hellespont Trinity (built 1996) was attacked 02:50 UTC 220 miles west of Angria Bank, India, its German owner wrote in a statement.
