Thenamaris and Eastern Mediterranean Maritime (Eastmed), known for their shrewd market moves, appear to be accelerating their fleet renewal programmes.

According to brokers, the major Greek shipowners may be about to shake out up to 10 ageing vessels after offloading seven tankers, bulkers and container ships this year.

If confirmed, the companies will raise an estimated $180m between them, which could come in handy to finance newbuilding deliveries or boost their cash coffers amid geopolitical instability.
