When Singaporean tanker broker Matthias Cher and two partners went at it alone in 1980, few in the city-state expected their company, Eastport Maritime, to be more than a small local broking shop, competing for crumbs left by international brokers.
Fast-forward 45 years, and Eastport is anything but local. It has grown into a global operation with a presence in six cities across four continents.
