A Singaporean tanker seized by Somali pirates over four months ago has been freed with the Chinese authorities keen to paint the picture of a ‘rescue’ operation.
It is unknown how much ransom money was paid to free the 14,500-dwt chemical tanker Golden Blessing (built 2010) although reports of $9m are likely to prove wildly inaccurate.
