Maria Angelicoussis fills her father’s shoes in landmark year for Greek shipowner

When Maria Angelicoussis was thrust into the leadership of her late father’s sprawling shipping empire, many doubted she would succeed.

“That fleet is simply unmanageable,” one major shipowner and competitor told TradeWinds at the time.

They added that it was difficult enough for a uniquely committed and gifted man like her late father, John, who unexpectedly died in April 2021, to hold it together.
