The UK has taken the lead role in the investigation into the deadly collision that saw an Ernst Russ container ship strike a Stena Bulk tanker off England, with the US and Portugal joining the probe.
As it announced the launch of the investigation, Britain’s Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) highlighted that the 804-teu container ship Solong (built 2005) was plying its regular route on the day of the collision.
