Hopes are rising for the release of the crew of a car carrier held by the Houthis for 15 months.
The Yemeni militants have been attacking shipping in the Red Sea, in support of Palestinians fighting Israel in Gaza. But after a Gaza ceasefire was announced last week, the Houthis announced a ceasefire of their own.
A Houthi official told Japan’s All-Nippon News Network that the 5,100-ceu Galaxy Leader (built 2002) and its 25 crew members would be freed “in the coming days” in a deal struck with Palestinian negotiators.
