Since 1796, the historic building has been home to Trinity House, a charity dedicated to safeguarding shipping and seafarers, with a statutory duty to look after lighthouses and navigation aids.

In 1975, Rowley was hired in this same building, which last week was the venue for a reception hosted by his Tokyo-based boss, Takeshi Hashimoto, to mark his retirement as director and general manager of MOBSEL’s LNG and offshore division.
