Underwriters are calculating a new war risk rating for shipping in the Red Sea region as Houthi rebels plot revenge attacks on commercial shipping.
Rates were already hovering around 0.5% of hull values ahead of the US and UK-led air attacks on Houthi forces in Yemen last night, but fresh enquiries for cover are down as shipping was advised to avoid the region.
