WinGD has delivered the world’s largest and most powerful methanol dual-fuel engine in preparation for it being fitted into a Cosco Shipping Lines container ship.
The 10-cylinder, 92-bore X-DF-M engine is being delivered in a two-day, high-profile ceremony that concludes on Wednesday at the Chinese-owned designer’s CMD engine building facility in Shanghai.
The unit will be disassembled and shipped this quarter to Cosco Heavy Industry (Yangzhou) shipyard, where it will be fitted on the fourth of a series of 16,000-teu container ships being built for Cosco.
