Energy major Total has acquired a new shipowning company that controls 18 LNG carriers under its newly completed $1.5bn buyout of Engie’s upstream LNG assets.
The new entity — Global LNG — was set up several weeks ago as a vehicle to house both Engie's chartered and owned LNG tonnage. These comprise 12 vessels, which includes four in which the company has ownership stakes and two floating storage and regasification units.
