An environment scare has erupted in Turkey after a ship held for four years in the Mediterranean port of Iskenderun sank with its cargo of 2,000 tonnes of fly ash still on board.

Fly ash is a by product of coal fired power stations that can be recycled as a building material.
The loss of the 2,561-gt general cargo vessel Ulla (built 1969) has sparked fears the cargo of ash from power stations could contaminate local waters.

The
