Nigerian ports including oil terminals are set to shut down from midnight local time on 8 June when a general strike called in protest at fuel price increases is due to begin.
Nigerian unions in the two umbrella bodies, the National Labour Congress and the Trades Union Congress, face a last-minute legal challenge. They have received summons to appear in a federal court today, but remained defiant, insisting the strike would go ahead even if the court granted the government an injunction.
