Belships of Norway has signed a seven-year charter with a undisclosed Japanese owner for a product tanker newbuilding at a rate of $12,500 a day.
The charter agreement for the 48,000 dwt ship, which is due to be delivered in the second half of 2006, includes options for three one-year renewals and a purchase option at an agreed price.
Belships has previously been seen as withdrawing from product tankers to concentrate on the booming bulk carrier market.
