BC Ferries has revealed it will spend CAD 100m ($87.09m) on refits and maintenance work for its fleet in the next six months.
The work began in September and will continue to June next year, with extensive mechanical maintenance and upgrades planned for 24 vessels.
The 350–gt Kwuna (built 1975) and the 9,300–gt Queen of Esquimalt (built 1963) are finalising their annual refit this month and the 4,900–gt, 1964-built Queen of Nanaimo’s three and a half month upgrade will also be completed before year end.
