Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) has become the second Japanese shipping company to announce it plans to test autonomous sailing on coastal ferries.
The shipping giant said on Monday that it will work with Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding and Furuno Electric to operate demonstration voyages of autonomous sailing systems from this year. MOL will use one of its ferries and an Imoto Lines feeder containership.
