Shipping newcomer Technical Olympic, a Greek construction company, has acquired a bigger stake in a 15-year-old post-panamax vessel than previously thought.
The Stengos family outfit said in a filing on the Athens bourse that it acquired an 85% stake in the 9,800-teu MSC Roma (built 2006), a vessel that TradeWinds reported sold last week to Greece’s Technomar.
Technical Olympic was understood to be a minority partner in that investment, in line with a 15% stake bought in six other, smaller containerships that it has purchased alongside Technomar since August last year.
