CMA CGM is purchasing French logistics company Gefco in a deal likely to save the embattled takeover target from the threat of Russian sanctions.

The shipping giant is buying the Paris-based company for an undisclosed price that French media placed in the region of €450m to €500m ($490m to $544m).

It comes a week after Gefco announced that it had bought 75% of its own shares held by Russian railway company RZD, which had been a majority shareholder since 2012.
