Hapag-Lloyd chief executive Rolf Habben Jansen has played down concerns over another wave of container ship newbuilding orders.
John Fredriksen and Idan Ofer have ordered newbuildings in partnership with container lines this week amid talk of 100 or more new vessels under development.
Habben Jansen said the orderbook is not “ dangerously high”, adding that his company will need to order too, given the need to replace ageing ships and meet its sustainability goals.
