Israeli environmental protection minister Gila Gamliel was recently able to confidently say that the country had identified an aframax tanker as the source of a 1,000-tonne oil spill that washed up on the country's beaches in early February.
"This is a crude oil tanker called Emerald, owned and operated by a Libyan company," she said.
"It was illegally carrying cargo from Iran to Syria.
