Iran has blamed Israel for the recent explosion on an Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL) boxship and said it has the right to respond.
IRISL had earlier alleged the 11 March explosion on the 2,200-teu Shahr E Kord (built 2012) in the eastern Mediterranean Sea near Israel was a “terrorist attack”.
The incident came shortly after Israel had blamed Iran for an explosion on the Israeli-owned, 7,721-ceu car carrier Helios Ray (built 2015) in the Gulf of Oman.
