Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) and Oshima Shipbuilding have built the wind sail system the two Japanese companies intend to install on a bulk carrier under construction at the shipyard.
The Wind Challenger project hard sail developed by MOL and Oshima is expected to cut the 100,00-dwt vessel’s greenhouse gas emissions by an estimated 5% to 8% compared with conventional ships of the same class, the companies said.
