Russia’s Northern Sea Route (NSR) is seeing traffic increase as a large fleet of specialised heavylift vessels use the Arctic route for infrastructure shipments to bring the vast Yamal LNG project on stream.
Work on the big LNG plant has geared up over the past couple of weeks, with project manager and charterer Technip looking to make the most of the relatively good weather conditions.
