From shipping to football to local politics — there is no stopping shipowner and Olympiacos FC president Evangelos (Vangelis) Marinakis.
Although his rumoured candidacy as Mayor of Pireaus did not pan out, the forceful owner did stand — and was elected — as a city councillor on a ticket headed up by Yannis Moralis, former club spokesman for Olympiacos.
On the “Piraeus Winner” ticket, Moralis bagged more than 55% of the vote in the second round of municipal elections on 25 May.
