PIRAEUS: The shipping community in Greece this week paid its last
respects to Michail A Karageorgis, who died March 27 at age 96.
Michail Karageorgis was born in Messinia in the Peloponnese in 1899. He
studied law at Athens University and in 1930 founded the shipping
company which bore his name.
Up to World War II, the company operated small freighters, but in the
post-war years, it expanded its activity rapidly.
