Private-equity powerhouse Blackstone Group is on the verge of making its second major push in two months into the products-tanker sector through a hook-up with top trader Vitol.
Blackstone is poised to buy a major position in a newbuilding programme launched by Vitol at South Korea’s SPP Shipbuilding for 10 medium-range (MR) carriers with 10 options, tanker market sources said this week.
