After 10 years of operation as a purely shipping bank, Aegean Baltic Bank (ABB) is considering turning its attention to other sectors, including tourism and alternative-energy sources.
The relatively small Greek bank, headquartered in the northern suburbs of Athens, opened its first branch in Piraeus in 2010 and envisages opening a further two branches in the coming year.
Last year, the bank set up a special-projects unit that, managing director Theodore Afthonides says, aims “to think outside the box”.
