Finnish marine technology group Wartsila believes a new tie-up with US tech giant Microsoft can benefit players outside the major shipowning companies.
A planned digital platform for emissions reporting — and all of Wartsila’s other technology — will be aimed at the 90% of the industry that is not building its own systems.
Sean Fernback, president of the voyage division, said the project, announced last year, is in its early stages.
