Venezuelan state oil company Petroleos de Venezuela SA (PDVSA) is using third-party tanker tonnage to ship exports to close ally Cuba.

UK shipbroker Clarksons lists nine of PDVSA’s 18 suezmaxes, aframaxes, panamaxes and MRs idle or laid up, meaning the group is having to tap into the shadow fleet of vessels disguising their locations.

Earlier in June, the oil company began loading a combination of crude and fuel oil cargoes.
