Any hopes that Turkey will shun Russian oil following last month’s US sanctions crackdown might be dashed.
Turkey’s crude imports from Russia shot up following the 2022 invasion of Ukraine and the subsequent reshuffling of the world’s oil trading patterns.
But its largest oil refiner, Tupras, said this week that it would stop buying Russian crude, in an effort to evade the wrath of the White House.
