South Africa's Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) has high hopes that its new east-coast Port of Ngqura terminal will become a petroleum trading hub, having secured energy majors as future clients.
In its first phase, the terminal will effectively replace aged facilities at neighbouring Port Elizabeth, but expansion plans could establish Ngqura as a transshipment centre for western and eastern Africa, according to project development officials.
