A potential merger of the chemical tanker fleets of Norway’s Stolt-Nielsen and Odfjell could be a meeting of equals that creates a shipping powerhouse, Clarksons Platou Securities believes.
Managing director of equity research Frode Morkedal has been crunching the numbers on a tie-up following Stolt-Nielsen’s announcement it has taken a 5% position in its rival. The stake is worth about $18m.
