Greek shipowner Roxana Shipping has locked one of its six LR1 tankers into at least a two year charter to trader Trafigura at a record rate.
European brokers said the Krontiras-family company chartered the 73,000-dwt Aligote (built 2010) at $19,000 per day, providing earnings of nearly $14m during the charter period for Roxana.
Aligote is one of five SPP Shipbuilding-constructed sisterships in the Roxana fleet.
