Tanker owners are positioning themselves to maximise gains from a massive US sanctions programme against shadow fleet ships.
The Biden administration added 183 ships to its blacklist on Friday, to try to starve Russia of revenue for its war against Ukraine.
“Shipowners, sensing an opportunity, have withheld vessels to push charter rates higher,” according to Clarksons Securities.
