A Greek aframax tanker avoided hijacking far out in the Somali Basin after coming under attack on Tuesday afternoon, TradeWinds has learned.

The owner of the 107,200-dwt Kythira (built 1997) will be hoping the ordeal has ended as falling darkness means crew can no longer see any attackers.

The Greece-flagged tanker was set upon in the eastern Somali Basin close to 14:00 UK time.
