A Greek aframax suffered an engine malfunction and lost propulsion in Turkish waters.
The 105,816-dwt New Hellas (built 2001) was transiting northbound on Wednesday when the problem occurred and forced it to sail through the Bosphorus Strait at reduced speed.
It requested assistance from local authorities and a tug was dispatched to guide the New Shipping-owned tanker to the Black Sea.
It was not possible to reach an executive from New Shipping for comment at the time of writing.
