Great Eastern Shipping has become the first Indian owner to commit to installing scrubbers to comply with the IMO's 2020 low-sulphur fuel rules.
A spokesperson told the Hindu Business Line that exhaust cleaning systems would be fitted on seven vessels.
“We have ordered scrubbers to be installed on seven of our modern and large-sized ships,” the spokesperson said.
The company has 49 tankers, bulkers and LPG carriers, plus OSVs through Greatship.
