A shootout erupted between Somali pirates and a security team onboard an Exmar-managed tanker in the Gulf of Aden on Monday, TradeWinds has learned.
Nobody was injured in the early-morning incident involving the 19,800-dwt Valerie (built 2002) close to the coast of Yemen.
The International Maritime Bureau (IMB) mentions the incident in its live piracy report but shied away from naming the vessel which an informed source identified as the Belgian’s managed chemical tanker.
