The Saverys family has denied rejecting a request from tanker owner Euronav to have its supervisory board made up of representatives of both major shareholding groups.
The clan’s shipping company CMB, the joint biggest investor in Euronav, is attempting to oust the board after the failed merger with Fredriksen’s Frontline.
A shareholder vote has been called for 23 March to decide on a new five-person board, comprising shipowner Marc Saverys, CMB finance chief Patrick De Brabandere and three independent directors proposed by CMB: Julie De Nul, Catharina Scheers and Patrick Molis.
