The government of US President Donald Trump has issued Washington’s first sanctions against a Chinese refiner for importing Iranian oil on shadow-fleet tankers.
The move by the US Treasury Department marks an expansion of the targets of Trump’s order to apply “maximum pressure” on Iran. It also seeks to put pressure on crude shipments linked to the Tehran-backed Houthis in Yemen.
