Tanker owners have been warned of legal action after China banned the transport of a range of highly toxic chemicals in the Yangtze river and its basin.
China and Hong Kong-based Oasis P&I Services said the government has enacted the Yangtze River Protection Law from 1 March.
Ai Cheng Foo-Nielsen, Bimco's manager of maritime information, said this will impact many important ports, including some parts of Shanghai port along the river, as well as Nantong, Zhenjiang, Zhangjiagang and Jiangyin.
