Green groups push for unified northern European scrubber discharge ban

Green lobby groups are calling on northern European countries to ban the dumping of scrubber waste in their waters.

A coalition of 14 groups, led by Germany’s Nature & Biodiversity Conservation Union (NABU), is calling on nations that are signatories to the Ospar Convention to ban vessels from discharging the waste within territorial waters 12 nautical miles (22 km) from their coasts.
