StealthGas is starting to encounter a growing number of blue chip counterparties that are interested in penning long-term LPG charter contracts.

In a conference call with investors, chief executive Harry Vafias said heightened demand for two to five-year fixtures is an encouraging trend as it reflects a belief that rates are poised to pop.

In the near-term, however, the Athens-based owner believes one-year time charter rates for its 5,000-cbm gas carriers will likely average around $310,000 per month in the third quarter.
