South Korea’s top three shipbuilders are struggling to meet their 2020 order targets as the vessel-construction industry is hit by sluggish orders and the impacts from Covid-19.
Clarksons Research’s monthly World Shipyard Monitor report said South Korean shipyards have scored only 75 vessel contracts — a combined 2.4m cgt — in the first eight months of the year, which is a year-on-year decline of 64%.
