French president Emmanuel Macron is planning to re-examine Fincantieri's purchase of a large stake in STX France.
He said the new shareholder structure should not jeopardise jobs at the French yard, or its ability to win new business, Reuters reported.
"I want to see the initial balance agreed in April to be revised," Macron said.
But he added he was generally in favour of the deal.
