Germany's Rob M Sloman is closing its shipbroking business.
The Hamburg-based division, Sloman Charter, will close its doors at the end of 2020 "at the latest", the company said.
Sloman Charter had remained profitable through the coronavirus crisis.
But it had not able to overcome difficulties relating to finding quality staff and potential partners.
"We had to realise that times have changed for a mostly independent broker house," director Sven-Michael Edye wrote in a letter addressed to clients on 21 July.
