Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) has gone back to its roots in naming its newly formed shipbuilding company.
The main firm, which will start operations from its Yokohama headquarters as a wholly owned subsidiary from January next year, will be called Mitsubishi Shipbuilding and be headed by president and chief executive Koji Okura.
The name, in its original Japanese form Mitsubishi Zosen, was the company name first used for MHI’s shipbuilding activities in 1917.
