Newly formed Gyxis Corporation is taking the 82,200-cbm carrier from Kawasaki Heavy Industries (KHI) in November 2018.
Gyxis was formed in April and is a joint venture between Cosmo Oil, Showa Shell Sekiyu, Sumitomo Corporation and TonenGeneral Sekiyu.
It wants to expand its fleet for domestic and overseas sales.
The charter is K Line's second with the company.
The Japanese owner already has a similar-sized gas carrier coming from KHI in 2017
It operates another four VLGCs and pledged to continue to "meet the expanding needs of LPG transportation, utilising the latest technology combined with established knowledge and know-how from its more than 40 years of LPG transport experience."
